Which iron to use
Mixed-jurisdiction shops
A distributor licensed in more than one state stamps more than one stamp. Different decals, different formats, sometimes different pack widths, all at the same bench. The bench needs irons that cover the range without a separate machine for every stamp.
A solid bar iron is the all-purpose anchor. It handles most formats, and with the right stamp paper it handles whole cartons. The Deluxe mini solid bar is the most versatile iron in the shop. It stamps singles, twos, 6.4s like Virginia Slims, and cube packs, so one iron covers several jurisdictions' formats.
For one-off stamps and corrections, keep a single stamp or two stamp iron on the bench. When a decal lands crooked or a transfer comes up light, the single stamp iron re-stamps one pack at a time. The two stamp iron does the same and adds a second pad for two-up runs. Together they let a mixed shop fix a bad stamp without stopping the main run.
